A new meningitis clinical trial is seeking adolescents and adults now. Study-related care from local doctors and study medication is available for eligible applicants at no cost plus compensation for time and travel. 

The meningitis studies are looking at how safe potential new vaccines are and whether they may act as a booster in people who have already received a vaccine against 4 of the most common types of meningococcal germs that cause meningitis.

Meningitis is an inflammation of the fluid and membranes (meninges) surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Meningitis can happen to anyone, but it is more common in young people. The best option to help prevent diseases caused by meningococcal germs is the use of a vaccine against the germs.
